Meet Kristy and Mike

Kristy’s Kitchen was started by Kristy and Michael Johnson in 2005 after Kristy discovered in 2003 that she had Celiac Disease. After much experimenting and reading publications from other brave Gluten Free (GF) Pioneers that had gone before us, Mike and Kristy began switching over family dining favorites based on wheat ingredients over to GF. First thing to switch over was Sausage Gravy on Biscuits, a Saturday morning routine.  Since then we have challenged ourselves to talk to fellow Celiacs to find out what they had on their GF wish list. So we have made a choice to create unique and gourmet style foods like a Blueberry Sour Cream Muffin and Coffee Cake to compliment the family favorites like Biscuits, or our Sandwich Bread. We’ve created comfort food mixes like our Apple and Spice Pancake and Waffle mix, and our most popular, an Artisan Graham Cracker mix.  The photo to the left is Mike and Kristy at their Vendor Display at the CSA 2008 National Convention

We realize there are a growing number of  mixes out there to compete with, from great companies with a passion to help Celiacs cope with the drastic changes to their lifestyle. We proudly join their ranks to provide great tasting and healthy products to bring variety to the Celiac’s “New Normal”

We dedicate our goal of helping Celiacs, to the people who helped Kristy regain her health, her family who cooked, cared and prayed for her, and other special friends. Also to our dear Celiac friend Deborah Freeman who left us too soon due to an auto accident. Deb’s wisdom and fearless experimentation taught us how you can not only enjoy, but thrive on the Celiac diet. These special people have inspired us, and drive us onward to come along side others just as they came along side us.

That is our Mission Statement. We thank our family and friends for support, encouragement, inspiration, and of course taste-testing. We also give thanks to our Savior Jesus Christ for making all things possible.

Mike and Kristy are the third generation to live on her family's farm, and have three adult "kids",  eldest son Kyle and his lovely wife Mary, and youngest son Cole.  They have been among the many taste testers.  We love them endlessly.  Accomplishments will come and go, but they will always be our greatest legacy.
