Kristy's Grandmother is Dorothea Bell, and all of her family has lovingly called her DoDo. DoDo has made pies for every family gathering for over 70 years, and she is still making pies in her 90's, and still with lard or butter, but good lard is getting hard to find. We have taken her recipe and adapted it to be GF. As we were developing this recipe, we were baking the turnovers to have family taste our samples. DoDo tasted our final sample and said that "You would never know that this wasn't a wheat flour pie crust" That was all the affirmation that we needed. The pie crust authority has approved!
